Where to go on vacation in the Carribean?
By admin. Filed in Uncategorized |Last year, my boyfriend and I went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico and loved it. This year, we are looking to go back to the Carribean in mid-February but are not sure where to go. We will be flying out of Philadelphia and are looking for an all-inclusive vacation package for at least 6 nights. Our budget for the trip itself is about ,000 so we’re looking for something cheap. Some destinations on our radar are: Jamaica (possibly Negril), Cancun, or the Dominican Republic. Depending on what kind of deal we could get, we would love to go to Barbados or the Virgin Islands.
Any suggestions on where to go (nice but inexpensive)? And/or travel sites to get the best deals?

Barbados, Negril, Punta Cana, Dr, and the Virgin Islands are lovely but I don’t know that you can do it for $2000. Playa is less expensive because it’s on the mainland and things can be shipped via truck. Everything costs more on an island because it all has to be shipped in via boat.

Barbados is a beautiful island. Lots of lovely scenery and so much to do, morning noon and night. In Barbados you can never get bored because there is something for every type of person to take part in. Barbados is also romatic. Activites for kids and older ones…you will not regret visiting Barbados! The island has great beaches and is wonderful for shopping too!

As it relates to accommodation, there is a lovely resort in Barbados called The Barbados Beach Club. This is along the South Coast and has a lovely beach view. This resort is VERY reasonable!

The Barbados Beach Club is an all inclusive resort which offers breakfast, lunch, after noon tea, dinner, unlimited drinks, an exercise room (gym), pool aerobics, snorkeling, scuba diving lessons, windsurfing, Hobie cat cruises, beach volley ball, games room, free shuttle service to and from the main town and soooo much more. The activities that are included in this all-inclusive package are astounding.

You can usually find good deals to Cancun and Puerto Rico. Of course, there are no all inclusive resorts that I know of in Puerto Rico. Sometimes, you can also find good deals to the Dominican Republic or Jamaica. One option in your budget you might look into is a cruise.
Barbados and the USVI, along with most of the other Caribbean locales, are usually expensive and typically cannot be done for under $2000 with airfare and all inclusive.
February is high season for much of the Caribbean, which means that you will pay more than you would at other times of the year.
If you book your flight separately from your hotel and ground transportation, you can get flights out of Philadelphia on Air Tran dirt cheap to either Jamaica, Cancun or Puerto Rico.
One site that I like for research purposes is http://www.cheapcaribbean.com. Look for the tab that says "Sale Finder." I also highly recommend http://www.tripadvisor.com, where you can read reviews for almost any hotel. You can learn a lot about a hotel based on other people’s experiences there.

I’d suggest either the Tamarijin Aruba or Divi Aruba (beachfront resorts next door to each other). Both are all-inclusive, but at a more reasonable rate than most (about 500 $ per room per night in high season). I know the price might be higher than you’d like, but it isn’t bad considering it includes all meals, alcohol, activities, entertainment, etc — and you’ll have a room where you can just walk right out to the beach easily. These resorts are in the low-rise section of Aruba (as opposed to the high-rise hotel section), so the beaches aren’t nearly as crowded — a real plus.
It might be easier if you could delay your vacation until the "low" season when the rates drop. Or, consider another location in Mexico…
Enjoy making your plans. Be sure to check out tripadvisor.com for reviews on destinations and/or hotels you are considering.
